Let’s discuss the power of colors on our moods and emotional state of being. We also may be attracted to certain colors based on how we’re feeling on the inside. The power of colors is that each has a particular energetic vibration. And since everything, including ourselves, is made of energy, colors can impact our own vibrational frequency which then impacts our mood or emotional state of being. Using colors to effectively improve our moods or balance our emotions is a key element of designing for emotional wellness and home health.
However, this does not mean that you have to choose a color and then paint a whole room or wall with that color. Nor does it mean every item in your space has to be that color. Of course, if you feel that painting the walls your chosen color will assist with your wellbeing, then feel free to do so. Incorporating color into a space can be subtle and temporary though. Use a throw blanket, a side chair, or some pillows. Or instead of painting a wall, you can use curtains of the color you want to cover a big window. Less permanent. It can also mean having a small space in a room dedicated to your healing color.
Like emotions colors resonate with a vibrational frequency. Some colors such as yellow, orange, and red are energizing. Colors like blue, green and gray can be calming. Colors represent different qualities and meanings but this is also influenced by our culture and beliefs. The following pages on the meaning of colors represents mainly North American culture. Finding the colors which have a positive impact on your own, unique emotional frequency will help you with elevating your mood and increasing “feel good” feelings. When we feel good, our vibrational frequency increases. When our vibrational frequency rises we are attuning to our higher selves.
